Niron Magnetics is a Minnesota-based permanent magnet company that has developed and is commercializing a rare-earth-free magnet technology based on iron nitride (Fe₁₆N₂), a material that offers the potential for high magnetic performance using only the most abundant elements on Earth — iron and nitrogen — with no rare earth or cobalt content. The company is actively manufacturing and sampling customers from its commercial pilot plant in Minneapolis while simultaneously constructing a 1,500-ton-per-year full-scale manufacturing facility in Sartell, Minnesota, with a third high-volume plant at 10,000 tons per year in site selection.
